The system developed for the Mechatronics class project is the remote control of the locking mechanism of a Honda Civic automobile with an HTC SmartPhone, via Bluetooth communication.
On the phone side of the Project, we used custom software to access the Phone´s Bluetooth hardware and control it as required.
On the car side of the project, we used a Bluetooth receiver coupled with a Motorola/Freescale HC11 microcontroller to tap into the car´s existing locking mechanism.
Thus, the lock system is manipulated by the HC11 according to the commands received from the phone over a wireless Bluetooth link.
